We've had solar on uor home for about 7 years.  We have a small home and only 6 panels.  We own the system and it paid back in 4 years with the incentives at the time.  With an electric vehicle, and the incentives we save thousands of dollars a year!  If you are looking into solar, definitely explore ownership and PPA (power purchase agreement) options!
